The first thing I did was to put a ring through the USB stick. I then looped some wire through the ring to make handling the USB stick easier later on.
Take a piece of string, and wrap it round the memory stick to measure the diameter. My memory stick was 6 cm.
Work out how many of your strips you will need – you need enough for the length of the stick. Arrange the pieces as you would like them, then place them face down on your baking parchment, which should be on a heatproof surface.
Take a boring old memory stick, and turn it into something special!
Cut a section off your Friendly Plastic strip the length that your USB diameter was, so my strip is 6 cm long. Cut that section into strips as shown above. Do the same with another piece of friendly plastic.
Blast the friendly plastic with your heat gun – it needs to get really hot. When you feel it’s melted, slap your USB stick on it as shown, pick up the right hand edge of your parchment paper and fold it up and over your USB stick.
Do the same with the other side using it to guide the Friendly Plastic onto the memory stick, and press down where the two sides meet. Make sure that you use the parchment paper to move the Friendly plastic around and press into shape – do not touch the friendly plastic with your fingers alone as the Friendly Plastic will stick to them and burn you!
Cut a small piece of Friendly Plastic to size for the top – here I have cut out a piece where my metal loop is.
Heat it well, and again use the Baking Parchment to place it on the USB stick and squidge it all together.
When it has cooled, use your Kwik-
I gently heated my FP again and pressed some micro beads into it using the parchment paper – however I’m sure I shouldn’t be recommending you to heat a USB stick!!
I then used alcohol inks to colour the lid.
Carefully holding it by the fibres I then gave it a coating of Diamond Glaze to protect it and give it extra gloss.
