Step 5

Step 6

Now we need to stick some ribbon to the outside  as shown on the left. You can see I have very messily just slapped a strip with my ATG gun here, but it doesn’t matter as we then attach a

10cm x 10cm piece of card as the cover both front and back.

Open your book up again as shown, and align and stick your inside piece as you did before..

When planning your book, it can look really effective to punch shapes out of this piece so that the colour behind shows through.

Fold the book over to stick to the other side of your inside piece as you did with the middle pages. Repeat for the remaining pieces.

Your book now looks like this.

Some people now like to cut a piece of card ½ a cm wider than their inside piece, and wrap it round as a cover, however I find this spoils the look of the star book from above when it’s tied open.

I like to brush an adhesive along the spine, and then cover it in glitter.

Step 7

The book can now be opened out and tied to keep it in place.

Slide Show, Lainey’s book

Lainey’s Baby Book

Lainey’s Book

Lainey wanted her pages to remain smooth, not to have a crease in the centre. She cleverly scored half a cm in from the end, and pushed it as an inwards fold to give the spine bulk and protect the pages, which gave an additional star shape to the centre of her book.

Lainey also made a beautiful Star Book with a baby theme. Please click on the link below the picture to see a slide show and more detail of this beautiful keepsake.

Lainey’s Baby Book

Papermania cardstock was used for the main pages. The edges were distressed with a nail file, and the inner pages were decorated with Dovecraft papers. Elements of the papers were decoupaged to add dimension. Die-Namics alpha dies were used throughout.
