For years I have thought this was called an Accordion Card, but then a few months ago I saw a project for it in a magazine, calling it a Squash Book.  Whatever it’s called, it’s basically just three squares of card stuck together!  Easy!

Hold one of the squares in a diamond shape, with the two
un-scored squares top and bottom. Squeeze the sides in,  and push the top and bottom to squash them.  Aha – that’s where the Squash Book name comes in!!!

First cut 3 squares for the inside.  My squares are 20 x  20 cm.  Take one of your squares of card and score it in half horizontally, vertically and once diagonally as shown.  Fold your card along the score lines to loosen the fold.  Do the same with the other two squares.

Step 3

The middle square is going to sit upside down on the outside squares, so put double sided tape on the inside whole squares as shown here.

Attach it to one of the outside squares as shown, making sure the sides can fold up around it.  Do the same with the other side.

Put double sided tape on one end as shown.  Take off the backing and lay your ribbon across with the squash book in the middle of your ribbon.

I now put another piece of Double sided tape over the ribbon to make sure it stays in place.  Stick the back cover to the squash book over the ribbon.

Cut two squares of card slightly larger than your folded Squash Book.  My cover pieces are 10.5 x 10.5 cm.

Step 4

Now fold your squash book up.

Step 5

Step 5

Put double sided tape on the other side, and stick the front cover to it.

Now bring the ribbons up from the back cover, and tie them in a lovely bow at the front to secure the book.

You can see how to tie a nice bow here!
