Fanciful Flight Butterfly

This is from the Tim Holtz Sizzix range of dies - Fanciful Flight Butterfly. We are going to give it a stained glass look.

Step 1

Stamp some thick tin foil with alcohol inks. I find Lakeland Plastics have a great thick foil useful for all sorts of crafty things. (I use cheap Tesco foil for cooking!!!) Scrunch it up carefully - not too tight or you won’t be able to undo it again! It’s best to scrunch loosely and open up, then scrunch again.

Lay it out loosely, don’t flatten it too much. Take a piece of double sided adhesive and remove the backing from one side. Lay this on the side of the foil without the alcohol ink spread on it. Now cut this with the Fanciful Flight Die which will press it down.

Step 2

Next I rubbed some black acrylic paint into the cut foil.

Step 3

Splodge some alcohol inks on to acetate, and cut them with the Fanciful Flight Die. Also cut some black card with it.

Step 4

Carefully take the adhesive off the back of the foil butterfly pieces, then make a butterfly sandwich! Glue the acetate to the black, and then the foil on top of that. I used Glossy Accents to do this.

Step 4

Now you can glue your butterfly to your CD.

Step 5

I punched holes in the CD with my crop-a-dile, and set eyelets in to the holes before threading wire through to make a hanger.

Scraps of paper were bound with a Bind-it-All and hung using wire too.
